Learning Lab Summer Intensive

Most children are taught what to learn.
But very few are taught how to participate in learning.

Learning Lab is a small-group learning environment designed to help students develop communication skills, emotional awareness, reflection habits, and independent thinking through structured activities and guided discussion.

This is not a traditional lecture-style class.

Students will actively participate in:

  • problem-solving activities

  • communication exercises

  • reflection discussions

  • emotional vocabulary practice

  • collaborative learning tasks

  • independent thinking challenges

Throughout the program, students will practice learning how to:

  • ask effective questions

  • communicate confusion clearly

  • reflect on their thinking process

  • express emotions during challenges

  • participate actively in group learning

  • build confidence through effort and reflection

Using tools such as emotion vocabulary cards, reflection prompts, and process cards, students learn how to verbalize both their thoughts and emotions throughout the learning process.

Rather than simply focusing on “right answers,” Learning Lab focuses on helping students understand:

  • how they learn

  • how they respond to challenges

  • how to continue learning independently

Students are encouraged to recognize that growth and capability are not determined only by age, but by individual readiness, participation, reflection, and willingness to engage in the learning process.

This program is recommended for students ages 8–13 who are ready to participate in discussion-based and interactive learning activities. Younger students may be accepted based on readiness and participation ability.
